Pyzel 'Red Tiger' Surfboard Review Ep 134

In this episode, Noel Salas reviews the "Red Tiger," which is John John's model, by Pyzel Surfboards. Noel rides his custom 5'6" high performance board with XTR10 foam with epoxy resin at 25.7 liters. He pairs it with signature Neutral Thruster fins, a Pivot thruster set up, but then a Pivot Twin + Trailer brought the board to a whole other level in the pool and ocean. He claims it is a solid performance board in the pool. The Red Tiger has a flat deck, its wide point a little back from center, and tapered rail keeps it sensitive and promotes pocket surfing. Noel rides a stock 5'7" XL Dims Red Tiger at 26.7 liters in PU Poly in the ocean and changes out the fins from a Raked template to a Neutral template to loosen up the board. In addition, Noel teams up with Ian "Wooly" Macpherson from Wooly TV in West Australia where he gives his take on the Red Tiger coming in at 6'2 and 34.2 liters. Ian says it works well in some larger, shoulder-high waves, it projects well into the lip, and it held the rail after he set his back foot further back on the pad. Ian really begins ripping on the Red Tiger. Then, TJ from Pyzel compares the Red Tiger to the Phantom in the Pyzel line up. The Red Tiger has less rocker, more dramatic bottom contours and pivots faster than the Phantom in his opinion. Finally, Noel says the Red Tiger needs a good, punchy wave to really shine, but says if you're looking for a surfboard that loves to carve and bridges the gap between a high-performance short board and daily driver, the Red Tiger falls right in line. Enjoy!

Being that Woody is my exact height/weight, it was a cool addition to your review. Thanks for the tips on the fins, good reminder to change up fins to experiment!

Thank you for excelent videos Noel. In 2019 you help me get the Sampler, and has been the best choice since that time. Keep the great work! Cheers from Rio Grand do Sul, South of Brazil!

I bought a Red Tiger --it feels a lot like an CI OG Flyer to me, but has a bit more squirt/acceleration through turns. I used Futures Blackstick when small and AM2s when head high+..Awesome board, my new daily driver.

Wooly that is some of the best surfing I've ever seen you do ripping bro.And Noel that EPS Epoxy was some of your best I've seen you do in the wave pool truly ripping.

Was great to see wooly in the review and how it works in a bigger size for a bigger guy. Not all boards scale up and down as well in terms of maintaining the same characteristics as despite the change in volume and dims of rider the waves don’t scale up or down to match.

Great overview with different riders. Would be interested on your comparison with the Pyzalien 2 which you surf really well.

Totally right regarding changing out fins on a board - can totally change a board performs and feels.

Always love these reviews. But especially loved seeing Noel have a romantic evening by the water with his friend!

Thank you Noel. Yeah... certainly some ppl think that the details you speak of hardly matter. Well... All those seemingly little things, Ad up to a "MAGIC" Board, or. Just "Ok" & Who wants... " Yeah.. it's OK " Once you have a board that does what you want, @ the speed of thaught, You CAN'T go back !!

Noel, you’re the most experienced and informed surfing channel. Your reviews are always the most honest and thorough. I love the deep knowledge you have on fin setup. You’re awesome man! I gotta head down to trestles and ride there. I’m normally at Salt Creek. Hey quick question. I know you reviewed the FRK a while back. Any plans to review the new Plus version of the FRK? I’m curious to see how it stacks up against the Pyzalien 2 since that seems to be the benchmark right now on what a performance daily driver should be. Glad to see you making an excellent recovery. Don’t ever stop riding man. See you out on the water! God Bless.

Thanks a lot for the amazing review. Liked the comparaison part with the phantom but whats ur personal take on it ? Did u prefer the phantom or the red tiger as a daily driver?

Hi Noal I brought a red tiger a week ago and had 2 surfs on it so far, feels awesome so far, currently using Klohe Andino large fins and would like your thoughts on using the MRs + trailor, also following Wooli 👍

TJ is da guy! Board looks good on everyone. I think it looks similar to an SKX with the wide point forward and pulled in to a wide squash tail.

Id be really interested to see how much worse your surfing gets if you increase the volume step by step. So i can see how much performance im missing out on by riding a high volume board. Excellent video thanks!
