The Oscar-winning director announced in a statement Wednesday that he was re-editing the controversial episode.“I’m Back In The Editing Room And Looking At The Eighth And Final Chapter Of NYC EPICENTERS 9/11➔2021½," he said in a statement sent to TV critics.  "I Respectfully Ask You To Hold Your Judgment Until You See The FINAL CUT.”A new version of the final episode, now available to the media,  is 30 minutes shorter and no longer features interviews with members of the conspiracy group Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth. The first two hours of the miniseries aired Sunday, and will continue this weekend (8 EDT/PDT). The final two are set to arrive on the anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks (10 EDT/PDT). On Monday, the New York Times published an interview with Lee, in which he was asked about featuring interviews in the docuseries with people who question the cause of the Twin Towers' collapse. Spike Lee set to lead Cannes Film Festival jury, first Black person in that role"I mean, I got questions," Lee said, expressing doubts about the official explanation for the buildings' collapse. "And I hope that maybe the legacy of this documentary is that Congress holds a hearing, a congressional hearing about 9/11."The director added that people who watch the series are "going to make up their own mind. My approach is put the information in the movie and let people decide for themselves," he said. "I respect the intelligence of the audience."
