interesting side note, I had a coworker tell me "well if you choose not to get vaccinated, and you get covid, do you promise not to seek medical help?" (I survived covid before a vaccine was even an option so I already have natural antibodies which studies show are more effective anyway)

my reply "well you're obese, if you start having heart trouble should I not call an ambulance for you? what a stupid question! of course you would want to do everything you could to save your life, even if it was your personal choices that lead to your current situation"

all they said was "I'm not obese, I'm fat" I had no clue wtf, or that there even was a difference until now

It is refreshing to see an educated and well-spoken person challenge wokeness. This definition of discourse is consistent with what I have encountered in my humanities graduate program. However, I would challenge the idea that discourse, as defined here, necessarily validates subjective experience over objective facts and truths. The way that group X discusses topic Y is itself an aspect of objective reality that can be studied and analyzed. What is this current series of videos, after all, but an analysis of woke discourse? Discourse therefore strikes me as a concept with more intellectual merit than it is given credit for here.

Here are some simpler definitions: "toxic" = something I don't agree with or like; "neoliberal" = a pretentious word for a capitalist; "diversity" = political conformity and uniformity; "bigot" = everyone I dislike and/or disagree with; "Nazi" = not a Far Leftist or Marxist; "inclusion" = the exclusion of tens of millions of conservatives and all people on the Right; "Uncle Tom" = a black person who believes things that a white middle-class Leftist thinks he shouldn't believe; "racism" = something that only white people are guilty of; "Democratic Socialism" = a gimmicky and empty term used to distance totalitarian (i.e., pro-censorship, banning, violence, etc.) Leftists from totalitarianism and Stalinism....

'Fat' was removed from Roald Dahl's Charlie and the chocolate factory by the 'sensitivity' editors but 'enormous' was kept in the description of one character. I think it's pathetic to be honest that a movement sees itself fit to censor the works of past authors.

Well, I do agree on most the analysis you do of woke terms and terminology, but I do think that discourse and discourse theory have a rightful place within certain academic field.

In criticizing campus police for driving government vehicles to the local food court, I referred to them as 'overweight'. I chose to avoid 'fat' and 'obese'. This still created a backlash from woke faculty who regard 'overweight' as derogatory rather than factual. The woke are infallible.

Good grief! "Fat" is the insult, whereas "obesity" encompasses the medical complications comorbid with an excess of fat storage in adipose cells. "Woke" manifests as a reactive, intolerant, anti-rational collection of fallacies of equivocation. Thank you for translating the folly into acceptable English.

The entirety of Peter's discourse is based on a preset of controlled conditions and predetermined definitions, likened to a scientific test done in a lab with a controlled environment and predetermined variables. But then when the test is taken out of the lab with a set of uncontrollable factors then the test produces a different result. There is an entire set of human factors which include uncontrollable human variables that Peter intentionally likes to omit. So to the layman, his math always adds up. Peter continues to present his case as if all sets of circumstances, historical experiences are equivalent. It's intellectually disingenuous, and its dangerous..
