The Fed needs to call an audible and hike 50bps at the next meeting, while also raising the terminal rate to 6.5% on the dot plot in the SEP. For extra bonus, they should start dumping the balance sheet at $250B a month. This guy is obviously waaaay offsides. Massive bagholder.

you're crazy if you think the fed is gonna suddenly pause hikes. conditioning people to expect a pause isn't helping the inevitable increase either.

They need to do the opposite of what you say. RAISE RATES. CONTROL INFLATION!!!

Let the banks bust.

Please keep raising rates! 🙏 Some things need to break to fix the problems QE caused!

I appreciate the open discussion and letting that play out. We all appreciate a little pushback and an explanation from time to time, even though I don't fully understand all the terms.

These "gurus" whine when rates are going up. We are not here to bail out banks or anyone. Savers have been PUNISHED for the past 14 years! We need much higher interest rates to (1) bring inflation down and (2) clear out all of the malivestment and speculation. Powell needs to take rates up by 100 bps on Wednesday. Inflation is out of control.

Several of the biggest market experts have been voicing their opinions on exactly how awful they think the next downturn would be, and how far equities may have to go, as recession draws closer and inflation continues well above the Fed's 2% objective. I'm trying to build a portfolio of at least $850k by the time I'm 60, therefore I need suggestions on what investments to make.

Peter is looking at the future too bleakly . Why stop hiking? Inflation is still too high and they have shored up the banks to the extent there is no systemic risk. Powell will do 25 and markets will like it. Pause would indicate fear like what Peter is feeling right now and crash the market.

Dan has a solid point…these banks are playing the same game to one degree or another. It’s worse than what it appears to be.
