I’m pretty sure big bears original model is in a photo in one of the houses in a cutscene, it’s to show what he used to look like before he got addicted to drugs.

Fun fact: another reason why darkel was removed because he was very dark I don't remember darkel's missions tho but I do know that they were very dark so dark that rockstar had to remove him from the game I tried my best to explain the other reasons

Rockstar confirmed that Darkel was not pulled from the game due to the 9/11 attacks, although to your point i know some things were changed because of 9/11. Not to be that guy but i wanted to see for myself why that would be, and it turns out there is no correlation with him and 9/11. The 1% of the game they did change after that day, was the original GTA III cover for the game itself. It was too raw looking, as it does have more graphic relations to 9/11 on the front of the box.
