I was trying to understand the hippocampus, parahippocampal gyrus and relation with ventricles..But, most sources explain showing the medial aspect of cerebral hemisphere which was enough confusing.. Your video helped me to clear my doubt, the model explanation was so helpful

I like the emphasis on visualisation and the underwater analogy.
I always like to think of the hippocampus as a tempero-spatial map of our lives though instead of just memory. It makes so much more sense in terms of information structure and association of information. Grid and place cells make so much sense and it makes sense from an evolutionary perspective, the most basic version I imagine allowed us to not instantly forget what's behind us as we turn and flee from a predator (i.e. it was a map, which it still very much is in the central doughnut-like structure in a fruit fly, where space is often directly translatable) 😅
But perhaps more than that, it explains the difference in semantic knowledge and autobiographical memory - the latter is mapped to the self while the former is associated directly with other concepts which through repeated experience manifest in the cortex and are spatially discociated from us.
Perhaps in retrograde amnesia, memory is fragile because we lose the self associated references and hence everything connected with it, without effecting semantic knowledge as it is mapped independently.

Good for you. Realy nice explanation. How we can cure problems in hippocampus? Magnesium and vitamin B12 is suitable to stimulate it?! My nephew is autist and have problems with focusing attention.
