No one can tell anyone else that a song can't remind them of another song, but I'm old enough to have lived through a time when Runaway Train by Soul Asylum was inescapable on MTV. For a good few months they seriously played it every 15 minutes. The verses start in a similar key and both songs are about the same tempo, but if you can't hear the difference between Alex G's vague bittersweet melancholy and Soul Asylum's vapid uninspired whining, your favorite Italian restaurant is probably Olive Garden.

I remember listening to this song when me and my childhood best friend reconnected after seven years of being apart. The night we saw each other, we kissed. It was my first kiss, and it was incredible. The very night we reunited, we started dating. I talked to him on discord and I sent him this song and from then on, it’s been “our song”. I always associate the lyrics “I won’t tell nobody, baby you don’t tell nobody” with me and him and our forbidden love. Both of our parents are catholic and his mom isn’t supportive of us dating, but my mom is. 4 months later, we’re still together and in love. The childlike wonder hasnt faded a bit. We plan on dancing to this at our wedding.
