This might be a little hard to believe, but there's a free video on how you can sing the Man In The Box chorus yourself today, without developing any supernatural vocal skill, just with the current voice you already have. Too good to be true, right? Find it over at my channel.

Chris Cornell could lift mountains with his voice. Layne could turn them to sand.

You know youre a badass when you sound better live than in the studio

Layne probably didn’t even realize just how goddamn amazing his voice was. One of the best ever

Cantrell has said that when they played live, he could feel Layne's power in his chest.

Someone described his singing as an "angry angel". I agree!

Layne had ridiculous talent even deep into his addiction. Always has and always will be one of my favorite vocalists ever

I don’t think he was the most technical or disciplined singer, but his power and raw emotion was unparalleled. I saw him live during the Clash of the Titans tour circa 1991, and was blown away by his power. The entire venue literally shook when he sang. The dude was a force of nature.

Dude was an anomaly. Figuratively and literally. Even completely consumed by his addiction during unplugged, he had a killer voice. A voice lost to his battles now that he is gone, but never forgotten.

That, my friends, is why Layne Staley's vocals resonate in your soul. He had a voice of the Gods unlike us mere mortals. God, I miss Layne...

They could hear Layne over the speakers while playing live. He is immaculate

Layne's vocals are like marshmallow wrapped in barbed wire wrapped in marshmallow. He could go from a croon, to an all-out powerhouse banshee-esque scream and back again without missing a single beat. He'll always be my favourite frontman. We definitely lost a one in a million prodigy the day Layne passed.
Your wings are no longer denied, Layne🤘🏻💜

Nobody can sing like Layne, that blend of huge power and insane tone was a gift.

It's the emotions he gave in all of the songs that makes him my No. 1 singer. He was the most unique singer I've heard.

'Rain When I Die' is one of Layne's best songs, vocally. In my opinion!

One of the best singers in music history.

Layne was hands down the best vocalist out of Seattle and he was treated like garbage. I am really really happy he is finally getting the respect he richly deserves.

The best way I heard Layne Staley's voice described is "he sounds like a pissed off angel going to war" he had a certain level of beauty with so much power and damage mixed in as well it's such a damn shame I wasn't born early enough to watch him live.

Nobody can sing and harmonize distortions better than Layne. The best example of this was "Sick Man", "Hate to Feel", and ""What the Hell Have I". The way he sang "Man in the Box" in this video was crazy. I've never heard that before. That song is tough as hell to sing, but to go up like that, I'd say impossible if there wasn't footage of it. That is throat breaking. He had so many songs with just real subtle note changes that are just not natural, like how the song "I Stay Away" ends. That always gives me chills. He will never be duplicated. Many have tried, many more will keep trying, and everyone will fail.
