'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' features the voices of Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik and is picturised on the 3 main stars of the movie - Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherji. This title track remained on the charts for over a year, and in 2012 was voted as the most popular film song of the previous decade by NDTV. Alka Yagnik won the National Award, Zee Cine & Bollywood Movie Award for Best Female Playback Singer while the Bollywood Movie Award for Best Playback singer male was won by Udit Narayan with the Zee cine award for Best Lyricist going to Sameer for Kuch Kuch hota Hai. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was Karan Johar's directorial debut under the Dharma Productions banner and the film had Salman Khan in an extended guest appearance. 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' or KKHH was the best selling music soundtrack of the year and also won many awards including Star Screen Award, Zee Cine Award & Bollywood Movie Awards for Best Music Director for Jatin Lalit.
