Literally every show ever in the existance of shows has had an epidemie episode, from Cowboy Bebop to Spongebob Squarepants. The Simpsons are just one out of thousands to 'predict' the 'future'.

The reason they show us what they are planning is to cheat karma. If they tell us what they are doing and we don't stop them, then in the grand scheme of things we are complicit and they escape karma. Or so they think. Karma will get them. Eventually.
