British man survives 10 bites from false widow spider

A British man collapsed while out shopping with his family after being bitten by a venomous spider. The false widow spider is believed to have fallen into Chris Galton's clothing from foliage where it proceeded to bite him 10 times. Galton was rushed to the hospital where staff identified the arachnid as a false widow, a spider native to the Canary Islands that delivers a painful but non-deadly bite.

Its a false widow. While in the widow family and looks remarkably like a black widow its venom isnt that string anf fangs are significantly smaller.

Also I wanna note that black widows specifically arent as dangerous as many think. They are actually docile. Dont olay with them unless ur an expert but they arent likely to bite you unless they are stuck in ur clothes getting crushed or they are being overly messed with. Ive handled many many widows and I've only ever been bitten bitten by a brown widow on my foot and it swelled bad for 3 days and bam gone...never been bitten by any of the many black widow or redbacks ive held

For the most part, False Widow Spiders
are not poisonous! They have a bite similar to a Wasp, or bee sting . The severity depends on how people react to the venom. Most people only experience a painful throb that wares off gradually. If the person is allergic to bites and stings then this can effect the respiratory system and cause an anaphylactic reaction, but this is more about the individuals immune system than the potency of the venom . 👍
