The attitude that you take with you to a country greatly determines how you see/ perceive it.

Nairobi looks absolutely beautiful. Would love to visit East Africa one day to enjoy the culture, people, and food. April- your hairstyle's gorgeous as always!

Wow, your first impressions of Nairobi capture such an authentic and dynamic view of the city! It truly is a place full of contrasts, blending its bustling energy with vibrant culture and incredible people. I loved how you highlighted both the challenges and the charm.

By the way, if you’re exploring Kenya, you should definitely check out Konza City! It's an emerging smart city just outside Nairobi that's being developed as a hub for technology, innovation, and modern living. It showcases Kenya's ambitious strides in urban planning and tech development something unique and exciting to see! Keep the great content coming; it’s awesome to experience Nairobi through your perspective

14:30 I’m Kenyan and I keep complaining that it’s not just Nairobi, but actually the whole country that’s being steered backwards! Ruto got into office and immediately engaged the reverse gear, and now our country is being steered backwards faster than you can even imagine 😂
Sasa mmesikia kutoka kwa hawa foreigners! But where will we go? 🤷🏿‍♂️ We have to stay here and fight for better governance! Nice video too 👍

This was so good I didn't want it to end! First off, Apryl is SO giving Irene Cara in Sparkle; you look like her with that hairstyle! I was surprised to hear about the wifi/internet; I too thought this was a tech-advanced city. I'm glad you mentioned the neighborhoods didn't look walkable for seniors...waaay too much traffic. Thank you guys for keeping it 💯, can't wait to see more from you!

Thank you for the video! People are awful in these comments. They are upset because you are telling the truth. I appreciate the honesty because these other You Tubers are only talking about how amazing Kenya is, and will not talk about the bad things.

That’s by far the best video for someone wanting to visit and or move there. I can see the passion you have for motherland. Your views if most folks were honest, was spot on. My biggest disappointment is how Uhuru park got destroyed. For those that used to visit it in mid 80s know what i mean. Let’s take this as a feedback instead of criticism and do better.

Wifi signals strengths are sold in packages.
You get what you pay for or what package your host has paid.
Most hosts usually get cheap wifi for their houses, but you can request an upgrade at an increased cost.
I live in the US and I don't think I can walk in some areas in Chicago at night, too. In Nairobi, it depends on what place / area you stay or live, depending on your budget. Seems like you guys were really on a limited budget so your options were limited by your money.
There are many great places in Nairobi that you can walk, party, or sleep outside at night without any worries.
Just remember that this is still a developing country and you don't have to compare it to you living in American.

I enjoyed the Giraffe experience too in Nairobi. When we went there gift shop had lots of patches. We also had an amazing time doing the Safari in the National park. I thought it was worth it. We almost skip it because we were doing a 6 day safari in Tanzania. Our guide did say we were lucky that day. I definitely want to explore more of Kenya. Mombasa was a slower pace and the food was soooo good! Like you said it is the people though.

10:55 2 entire days without internet? I've lived in Nairobi for years and have never experienced that.

I've only had one planned interruption for a few hours once, was notified before it happened and also compensated with two 5GB mobile "data bundles"

Karibu fam. Did you all make it to the waterfall in Karura? I didn't see that in the video. Anyway, quite a few of us have made Nairobi home. I hope you're able to connect with some of us expats/repats that are here. The Residential Tourists have helped quite a few Americans repatriate here and could share a lot of info. There are a bunch of different neighborhoods and towns in and around Nairobi county. Each has their own flavor, vibe and budget. I agree with you in terms of costs. It is not as budget friendly as some would expect of an "African" city when looking at things that align with western standards. Nevertheless, it's now home and we're grateful. Enjoy. Peace!
