Rob, the woman says "カードは挿入されていません" which in japanese means "the card hasn't been slotted in yet." In Japan, we have a system on our motorway network called ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) so its asking to put the ETC card into a reader. The cars that are compatible with ETC have sensors so that the barriers at the tollgate can identify it. Basically saves you from braking to a complete stop to pay for the motorway fare.

God damnit Rob, you've reignited my obsession and now I'm starting to look at these again

That thing making noise is called an ETC (Electronic Toll Collection Box) its basically the Japanese EZ-Pass and when it talks its telling you "No card inserted" or something along those lines.

Hello, I speak fluent Japanese. What the woman says on start up is, "please buckle up fat american" :D

We imported a skyline from Japan a few years ago. Different rules for Canada but a lot of fun. The Mercedes wagon we are putting the turbo LS is also from Japan. The car we will be running in Rob Ferretti's race is from Germany...

that thing on the side is a toll booth collector. 90% of cars that get imported from japan have them. its so you dont have to go out and pay for parking. you can just put your credit card in there and it wirelessly connects. as Japan is very populated so you have to pay for parking anywhere you go. this information is coming from a guy that has imported a hand full of cars into Canada. it takes no time at all to get use to RHD. and in fact I drive both RHD and LHD on the daily. I believe there to be no danger in a smaller sport cars. just need to take a little extra time when over taking on one lane roads and doing left hand turns at uncontrolled intersections. P.S that skyline is in ridiculously good condition. probably one of the last you will find with a stock exhaust.

Love that you have a heart for expensive exotics but also for JDM cars, that makes a true automobile enthusiast 👍

ETC is a toll reader, it allows you to go through Japanese tolls on the expressway ✌🏻 come to Okinawa! Currently tearing my FD3S apart due to broken solenoid and front pipe explosion!

"The card is not inserted"
Referring to the ETC card you use for quick pay on toll roads in Japan.

"Of course I like to modify it and sound like complete shit."

We all do Rob. We all do.

Congrats. I took delivery of mine almost two years ago. Very fun and capable car. All I did was put some wheels/tires on it, coil overs to lower it a tad, and a whole bunch of maintenance. Change all the various fluids, checked/cleaned/regreased the brakes, cleaned the interior etc. Since then though, the exhaust (it seems to be an old, rare Nismo piece) has started rusting out and I need to replace it. It's like $1500 for one because shipping/commission from Japan *cry*

Drive thru's are the best in RHD cars, especially alone..

Congratulations on owning one of the most iconic cars of the 90's! Now we both have two RX7's and an R32 GT-R. I just need to get myself a lambo and a Lincoln! :)

Congrats.... very cool, Rob. one of these may be on my radar down the road. The rt hand drive takes some getting used to. What I have found is after a few minutes, you get used to it, then you get out for 10 min, get back in it and go thru the whole learning curve again. Like learning how to ride a bike every ride... lol

The R32 is actually known for making much higher horsepower numbers than what Nissan claimed, go get the car on a dyno, could easily be over 300hp at the wheels

I'm sure this has already been answered, but the sound is coming from an ETC card reader for managing highway tolls without having to stop at a pay booth. It's saying that there is no ETC card inserted. They're pretty cool because you can eject your ECT card from your daily and pop it into a rental car if you're going on a trip elsewhere...sort of like a SIM card for your phone.

That's a beautiful example of an R32! Looks mint! :)
