Full Review of Editors Keys Backlit Shortcut Keyboard for Presonus Studio One

How useful are DAW shortcut keyboards? I'd say very useful if like me you have trouble remembering these things. Here I take a good hard look at the new backlit shortcut keyboard for Presonus Studio One from Editors Keys and find it very useful indeed.

since you bought this keyboard, how long has the color of the keys lasted? i.e.... do they still look like they did years ago? or have the colors faded?

Good review. I personally don't need to get one of these but I can see why other people would.

the Corsair K95 RGB can do everything that the Editors Keys can't. for a start it has per key customisable backlit colors so it's not all monochrome. The issue of not having the modifier keys printed is not a problem for the k95 as it has 3 software layers of keys so essentially you can map 3 functions to the same key.
I have mine set so that on layer 1 all recording related shortcuts are mapped. then when I've finished recording I then move onto the next stage, editing, and that's when I engage layer 2. Once all editing is done I move into the mix stage and I engage layer 3 which is dedicated to mixing keyboard shortcuts. it's a logical linear approach but it really speeds up the mundane tasks.

I find it pretty primitive that the stickers are fix. I can foresee in a few years we'll have editors keyboards with following features: display per key like in that streamers marcos keyboard, fully programmable keys and what the keys will display will vary if you're pressing alt, ctrl or shift

They look cheap and nasty at first look, I think the backlighting is a gimmick over quality...
- do your keys pop off like they do in the other YT review???
I'm questioning the build quality on these, they look like they are made in China for less than a dollar.

I had the original none backlit editors keys keyboard. rubbish, cheap nasty keybed and a lack of modifier key interactivity.
