"We're not seeing a direct correlation between efficiency and range with the same battery pack size"

I guess they skipped on physics 101 then

"Tesla doesn't meet the EPA range!!!!" ... "Did you do the test the same way?" ... "No, we ignored part of it"

I'm not sure if he's stuck in defensive mode, or if he's just not getting it. You're an excellent interviewer Rob, very patient.

Edmunds: We don't think there is a correlation between efficiency and range.
Rob: Why? They should be correlated.
Edmunds: Yeah, ...um, ...um, ...(leaning backwards), I am not a battery engineer

The bottom line is that they don’t know how to properly perform testing, but winging it and using words like “real world environment” and “consumer “-centric seems to adequately hide their bias or incompetence. It’s a scientific process: you can either do it correctly or not!! The dishonesty or disingenuous approach only reveals their flaws and bias. The data is crap.

Thanks Rob for disclosing this sham.

If Edmunds did this test and submitted it as a high school or college science report they would get an F. Imagine writing in a conclusion "we don't think the temperature would have much of an impact" when that conclusion isn't based on any empirical data. The fact that they are an actual company is really pathetic.

Weaver says his test technicians are “utterly fastidious” when it comes to testing. Testing cars 20 degrees F apart is not fastidious.

I love the respect you give your guests. Even when you completely disagree (such as w. Gordon Johnson), you never lose your composure, always let them finish their arguments and reply factually, not ad hominem.
Huge respect

Regardless to it being “clear cut, ” if they want to compare tests to competitors, you want to replicate testing conditions. Any person who knows how scientific research works knows that’s imperative.

Good questioning Rob, revealing responses..

Wow, as an Engineer I am truly embarrassed for Edmunds. Any Engineer or scientist wants to ensure consistent test conditions. Weaver is not up to being the CEO of this company. He could’ve simply apologized and said we’re going to take another look at this and it would’ve all been fine.

Alistair knows damn well the title and positioning was clickbait to get views. His whole, I'm not an engineer schtick was laughable.

As credible as your previous luminous guests Trevor Milton and Gordon Johnson.

Great video. Carwow always tests multiple cars all the way to zero. They drive on public roads until they are close to zero, then find a parking lot with a charger and drive it until the car stops. That’s how comparative EV tests should happen, unlike Edmunds that just picks random tests and selects those that would make the biggest headlines and clickbaits.

Weaver evades answering a direct question. He sounds like a marketing type. Ridiculous.

Edmunds say that they are paid by vehicle manufacturers so they should say how much has come from VW group Vs Tesla. This is by definition not independent testing.

I call BS, it’s known that temperature has a big impact on car range! If your going to do a published test this, and want an impartial outcome, you make sure all variables are the same across all vehicles being tested. I am betting deep down they had a hidden motive and support from the anti Tesla’s, otherwise they could just redo the test with equal variables and that is not going to happen! Just feels like more Tesla FUD...

OEMs buy ads, Tesla doesn’t. We are not gonna get a fair shot. Somebody has to pay the EIC’s salary

Edmonds “data” wouldn’t have passed peer review in any scientific journal
