Track 1 from their debut album “Dreamboat Annie” released in 1975 copyright Mushroom Records and recorded at Mushroom Studios in Vancouver. The band was formed in Seattle in 1967 by bassist Steve Fossen and guitarist Roger Fisher. After several lineup and name changes, Ann Wilson joined them in Hocus Pocus as their lead vocalist in 1971. At one of their shows the following year, Roger Fisher’s brother Mike attended while on a visit from Canada to see his family. He had been drafted by the U.S. Military to serve in the Vietnam War, chose not to report for duty and fled to Canada as a draft dodger. When he met Ann they fell in love and she decided to follow him back to Vancouver. The rest of the band soon moved to Vancouver as well. They became known as White Heart, and then simply Heart. Two years later Ann persuaded her younger sister Nancy to join the band as rhythm guitarist. They cut a demo tape at Mushroom produced by Mike Flicker and featuring studio session player Howard Leese, who soon became a member of the band on keyboards and rhythm guitars. They were signed by Mushroom and began recording. The single “Magic Man” was released in Canada and its success on radio prompted the release of the complete album, first in Canada where it sold well and later in the U.S. The album received above average reviews and “Magic Man” reached No. 9 on the Billboard chart. The album reached No. 7 on Billboard. It achieved Gold status in Australia, Platinum in the U.S. and 2X Platinum in Canada. Written by Ann Wilson & Nancy Wilson and produced by Mike Flicker. Cold late night so long ago
When I was not so strong you know
A pretty man came to me
Never seen eyes so blue

You know, I could not run away it seemed
We'd seen each other in a dream
Seemed like he knew me
He looked right through me, yeah

"Come on home, girl" he said with a smile
"You don't have to love me yet, let's get high awhile
But try to understand, try to understand
Try, try, try to understand I'm a magic man"

Winter nights we sang in tune
Played inside the months of moon
Never think of never, let this spell last forever
Well, summer lover passed to fall, tried to realize it all
Mama says she's worried, growing up in a hurry, yeah

"Come on home, girl" Mama cried on the phone
"Too soon to lose my baby yet, my girl should be at home"
But try to understand, try to understand
Try, try, try to understand
He's a magic man, Mama, ah, he's a magic man

"Come on home, girl" he said with a smile
"I cast my spell of love on you, a woman from a child"
But try to understand, try to understand
Oh, oh-ho-oh-oh, try, try to understand
Try, try, try to understand
He's a magic man, oh-oh-oh-oh, yeah
Ooh, you got the magic hands

"Come on home, girl" he said with a smile
"You don't have to love me yet, let's get high awhile"
But try to understand, try to understand
Try, try, try to understand
He's a magic man, yeah-eah-eah-hey, oh, oh
