NYSP's Gastrointestinal Surgical Center has expertise in treating a variety of digestive disorders including hiatal hernias, reflux disease, achalasia, gallbladder disease, pancreatitis, polyps, diverticulitis, gastroparesis, Intestinal/stomach bleeding, blockages/scarring of the intestine.
Among procedures offered are: cholecystectomy (removal of gallbladder), colectomy (removal of parts of intestine), fundoplication (treatment of reflux), Heller myotomy (treatment of achalasia), lysis of adhesions (removal of scar tissue from intestines), and many others.
All of these operations are performed laparoscopically with minimal scars and sometimes with no scars at all. Many surgeries are performed using the daVinci surgical robot and other most advanced surgical tools.
