Correction CNN, China did not have a 1.1 trillion trade surplus with the US, they had 295 million trade surplus with the US, the 1.1 trillion figure is what they had with the world. the US does have manufacturing but it is not in the same league as China, China's industrial output is double that of the US and what China also control is the supply chains, China is the supply chain for most of the ASEAN countries. Countries like Vietnam grew to be a large trading partners because of the investment from China.

How one man can ruin a country, and damage world trade is unbelievable. Dumb moves and ignorance on tariffs has created a situation where no country wants to deal with the US.
