This video goes over every specific cost associated with renting an RV so you will know what to plan for when planning a RV road trip! I break each fee down, explain what they are for and if you need them or not. I go over costs such as rental fees, insurance, service fees, taxes, linen fees, kitchen fees, cleaning fee, transportation cost, campsite cost, price of gas, miles per gallon on an RV. I also go over the difference between flying to your first destination and renting the RV from there vs renting the RV from your home town and driving to your first destination and tell you which one is more cost effective.

Where can you rent RVs from, Cruise America, RV Share, Outdoorsy, what happens when your rv breaks down on your trip, pros and cons renting from a commercial RV rental company or a personal RV, what's the difference between Class A, Class B, camper van, Class C, travel trailer, what is inside an RV, how many miles do I get when renting an RV, can I get unlimited miles, how much is the deposit, cleaning fee, how much does a campsite cost.

Very well done video. This made me realize that RV rental is not for me. With all these costs I'll just hotel it with an occasional airbnb.

Thank you for your detailed video! There are a lot of extra costs to renting an RV than I realized! Thanks for the help.

i was wondering about the costs of RV'S and stuff so i searched it and found your channel..

but the second you reminded me about driving up and down mountains .. i was like never mind

you just reminded me of the days i used to drive 26ft box trucks with air brakes

it was annoying driving 35mph to go up a mountain and then have to keep tapping the brakes so the truck doesn't speed while driving down steep mountains or brakes over heat..

i think a normal van or like a cargo van would be nice..

SO glad I found this!!! While I was looking to purchase an RV and possibly renting, I will NOT be renting one and may even look at getting a Yukon xl with a camper potty in the trunk for emergencies!

can I say thank you! this has been the most thorough video and breakdown of RV rentals and costs. in the past I looked up articles and things and they've never put it in such thorough terms and with prices like you have done! thank for breaking it down, I'm sure that was a lot of work keeping up with everything but I do appreciate it!

also I realize I am not at the point where I can afford to do an RV trip but maybe in the future LOL

I appreciate you crunching the numbers. Im 33yrs old and my husband and I are planning a trip to go to Yellowstone for the first time. My older sister and my niece and her boyfriend also want to join the trip. So having so many ppl come along was concerning in terms of cost for a car rental, hotel, gas, and food. Going the RV route would be the best choice. Thank you for your research. I appreciate you ❤

Good info -

I used to want to get an RV for vacations.... Then, a friend bought a used Class A (at about $80k) and I did the math - that would be well over a year of hotel nights. I guess if you were going to use one for 8-9 months of the year, it may be worth it, but for the typical 2-3 weeks' vacation per year, a hotel is WAY more economical.

I think the rental may not be a bad option though. If you drove to someplace like Utah, that has several National Parks in the state, and then used the RV as the mobile base-camp, you could still use your car as a chase vehicle to use for the day outings, and your camp is all ready when you get done for the (I also wanted to try renting a house boat for a couple of weeks....I think that would be a nice peaceful vacation.)

Very informative. Sedona AZ hotel rates are reporting $300-$3000/day. $500 with added independence sounds great.

Video was very helpful. Thinking of buying one but will rent first. The tip on getting your own insurance alone was worth the video..thanks!

USD $116/day was the rental price for a class B campervan we rented for our new zealand trip with price range between $0 and $50 for parking overnight at freedom and holiday parks campsites. It was still fairly expensive trip with the flight fare considered but we had fun.

Excellent presentation, very thorough. I'm impressed with how you broke down all the details.

Yes, RVs are not inexpensive, they are an alternative vacation experience. It's possible that hotels might be less expensive depending on where you stay.

Your $440 per day didn't include food, activities, occasionally dining out and other souvenirs along the way.

I will say that owning an RV is possibly more expensive than renting, because, your expenses are 24/7.

At least with renting, your costs stop when you return the vehicle.

Again, too many factors to calculate between owning and renting. There's the cost of insurance, registration, yearly maintenance and consumable items like batteries and tires that need replacement over time.

Finally, there's the "experience" of taking an RV trip. That cannot be duplicated in a car. You can't have a camp fire in a hotel.

Excellent video. Thank you for doing it. I've been thinking about renting an rv just to test drive the lifestyle for my wife and I. This looks like a very good breakdown of the expenses.

I had a 32 foot trailer when my kids were young and it was just not as much as it is now. I live in New England and spent the summers camping. It used to to be an economical way to travel with kids. I fly now I could not be bothered with any camping especially renting one. Give me a hotel and plane any day !! Best way to travel today

Thank you so much for this. We’re travelling from Ireland and was hoping to fly into Seattle and travel into Canada to Banff, jasper then head back to Seattle through BC. This is a dream vacation however, there are definitely a lot more costs than I had even thought about, so it may be a little out of budget. However, never say never !! I would absolutely LOVE to make this a reality. Thank you for your help. This video is very informative.
