THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University men's basketball team knows one thing - it needs to defeat Southeastern Louisiana in order for a chance to make next week's Southland Conference Tournament. The Colonels close out the regular season Saturday on Senior Day against the Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Broussard Court at Stopher Gymnasium.

Before the game, the Colonels will honor their three-member 2019 Senior Class. Making their final appearance in Stopher are graduate transfers Jeremiah Jefferson and Gavin Peppers, and senior Daniel Regis who is in his second season with the Colonels.

DESTINATION KATY?
• Nicholls improved to 13-17 overall and 6-11 in the Southland following its win over Northwestern State Wednesday. The victory kept the Colonels alive as they are one of six teams fighting for the final three spots in next week's Southland Conference Tournament.
• The Colonels have to beat Southeastern and need some the help. Paired with a win over the Lions, Nicholls needs Northwestern State to defeat Central Arkansas, and Sam Houston State to beat Stephen F. Austin. That is the lone scenario where the Colonels would get in as a No. 8 seed.

SENIOR NOTES
• Jeremiah Jefferson leads the Colonels in scoring at 16.8 points per game, which is good for fifth in the Southland Conference. He also leads the SLC in 3-pointers made per contest (3.1) and is fifth in percentage at .383.
• Gavin Peppers is 11th in the Southland in scoring at 13.8 ppg. He leads the conference in free throw percentage at 92.4 percent and is fourth in 3-point percentage (.385).
• Daniel Regis is fourth in the Southland in blocks with 1.7 per game. For the season, Regis is averaging 6.1 points and 4.9 rebounds.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
• Southeastern Louisiana is 16-14 overall and 12-5 in the Southland. The Lions have locked up the No. 3 seed in the postseason tournament.
• SLU is led by the 1-2 punch of Moses Greenwood and Marlain Veal. Greenwood is averaging 17.3 points per contest and Veal is close behind at 15.8.
• The Lions won the previous matchup against the Colonels in Hammond, 91-70.
