Beirut, Lebanon || Exploring the Past, Present, and Future

Beirut was my first stop on a 10 day tour of Lebanon. It’s the small countries largest city and is beautifully situated on the Mediterranean coast, surrounded by mountains. The city has a beautiful blend of cultures and perfectly merges it's legendary past with a modern, vibrant way of life. The city has been through a lot in recent history, but the cities resilience is a testament to how vital this middle eastern city is to the region. The city is rising from the ashes but there is still so many scars of a tumultuous past that are very interesting to see and explore. I had a few days here, and this is how it went….

Really enjoyed this, thank you. Lebanon look incredible, very interesting. The Holiday Inn looks like some kind of freaky installation art!

My family moved from Lebanon 100 years ago and it was so surreal for me to visit it for the first time 🙏🏼

Lebanon. I was there in 1994-1995 as a UN soldier of Polish UNIFIL contingent. Great times really. One day I will visit Lebanon 🇱🇧 again👍

Very cool that you visited Lebanon! I've been twice - and have seen the stark impact of the economic crises over the years. In 2010, it was still an incredibly vibrant, sophisticated place full of contrasts - which makes Beirut one of my favorite cities. You can still see conservative elderly ladies in full burkhas taking a walk on the Corniche and then young, hip and probably secular Beirutis in shorts out for a morning jog. Great culture, food, and other offerings. It was sad to see how empty the restaurants and shops look. Beirut Souks was full of life in 2010, less so in 2019 on my second visit and a ghost town in your video. I also noticed the great white curvaceous Zaha Hadid building near Zaitunay Bay, appears to have been abandonded post-explosion - so sad. All the best to Beirut and Lebanon - an incredible city and country!

Toujours agréable de savoir comment est-ce que c'est devenu après l'explosion du 04 août 2021.

Merci pour ce beau reportage!
Enrichissant, toute cette diversité de cadres à différents points de la ville.
Le front de mer, aussi, magnifique! 🌊 🌅 🇱🇧

Most of the damage from the late big explosion in 2020 at the port of Beirut was due to nitrate ammonia which was stored at the port and a big fire caused the explosion.

Radical Islam destroyed Beirut and Lebanon. Lebanon is a Christian country, without the cancer of Islam, Beirut and Lebanon would be beautiful places to visit. I regret that in my lifetime I will never be able to go there.

I heard they're still picking up the pieces from the Great Explosion in 2020... Still a lot of clean-up, repair, and rebuilding to do...
