TBC Utility Module - Import from Autodesk Civil 3D

This series of videos demonstrates how to efficiently transfer data from an engineer into Business Center for a quick takeoff using LandXML files. The process bypasses the need for CAD data by utilizing PDF sets and LandXML files of pipe utility networks and surface topographies. Initially, vector-based PDFs are georeferenced and clipped to fit the workspace. Two LandXML files, one for the topography and another for the utility network, are imported. The utility network import includes nodes and pipes, revealing three main runs. The data includes pipe dimensions and properties like horizontal and slope lengths. Although immediate volume calculations aren't possible, the setup allows for quick assessments of pipe lengths and node summaries. The import process also automatically creates site improvements and categories in the material site improvement manager. However, to generate a more robust report, some property swapping and data cleanup are necessary. The video series will guide viewers through these steps, demonstrating how to refine the imported data and optimize it for accurate reporting.
