Lessons from My Dear Jane Quilt

Vlog update on where I am at on my Dear Jane quilt and lessons I have learned along the way.

I have made 2 dear Jane quilts. 1 in all shade of pink and 1 in all blue. I did all the applique blocks by hand. I also hand quilted my quilts, was really challenging. You can quilts each block using a variety of shapes that will miss most of the seams. My blue quilt is a real treasure.
I used a different setting for the quilt using blank squares which I also quilted by hand. There are so many different settings out there using her quilt blocks they are really fun to do. Good luck with your quilt, you become really addicted to doing the Dear Jane I enjoyed every moment of making mine.

They ALL are beautiful. Wow. I give you credit to even try these tiny blocks. Beautiful job

Jane was bedridden while making this quilt, but the cause is not known. I think this quilt was a life saver for her during a very difficult time. It’s also my understanding that she went to a design school, and that’s why her designs are so advanced. Your quilt is beautiful and definitely a labor of love! TFS!

I am sewing on the binding. I chose to have a scalloped edge. I did have a sheet of progress and realised that I had packed it away for ten years. I didn’t think my skills were up to it. Now it’s nearly finished. This quilt has taken well over 10 years. I also foundation pieced all but the hand appliqué blocks. I finished the quilt during Covid. Quilting went on hold due to my husband passing and my own health. My friend quilted it for me on her long arm.

Very interesting to hear you tell of what you have learnt during the time you have been working on Dear Jane. I purchased my copy of Dear Jane last week, ordering from Amazon, it was a reasonable amount but I think that's because they've just bought out the 25th anniversary version😁. I was watching Jennifer at "Calculated stitcher" on Flosstube, loved hers and the passion she has for quilting. I shall be.going to look at some fabric tomorrow 😝. Thanks for your time. Stay safe

Je débute le patchwork car j'ai vu ul y a 2 mois une vidéo sur le Dear Jane. Je suis tombée amoureuse. Et 45 jours après j'ai beaucoup appris et réussi 52 blocs ( certains ont nécessité plusieurs heures de travail). Bonne couture
