There have been a bunch of 2D sonic games since &Knuckles. The Sonic Advance series and a few DS games were sidescrolling 2D games

If they add amy, I’d like them to drop the hammer and make her play more like the rest of the cast, barring one possible difference, like mighty and ray.

I like the Metal Sonic update, but it looks like his transformation is a pushover.
