How to Make Outdoor side Tables - Beginner Woodworking Project

In my latest woodworking project, I show you how to build a pair of indoor outdoor end tables. For this project build, I used pocket holes to build these tables. One reason why I chose this woodworking technique was to keep this project at the beginner level, and at the same time, I’m a fan of pocket hole joinery, and I’ve never had any issues using pocket hole screws.

For these indoor outdoor end tables build, I used Sepele wood. Sepele is a good choice for both indoor and outdoor projects.

For the finish on these tables, I used Total Boats Danish Teak sealer. It’s a very simple finish to apply simply brush it on and allow it to soak in for 15 minutes and wipe off the residue with a clean rag.

One thing I forgot to mention in the video is, I did add nylon domes to the bottom of the legs. This will elevate the legs off of the ground about a quarter of an inch and prevent water from absorbing into the wood.

Thanks for watching,
Jon

I always learn from your videos, and I love the fact that you are building things vs. getting hung up on what kind of joinery is more traditional, etc.

Great little project! I purchased your plans and made some using cypress.

I chose to lacquer the top and paint the bottom section.

I used dominos to assemble vs pocket screws and z-clips to hold the top down in case humidity tries to give me grief. 😬

Thanks for putting together such a quality table and the attention to detail!

I’m learning.
It’s important to know how to fix mistakes, but the more precise you are with cuts no matter what the project, the less time it takes to sand, join and finish. And reduces the times you have to fix.
Thanks Jon.

Thank you Jon,
I will be purchasing the plans and building these soon, for me this will be useful for my yard and a skill builder as well, I am an amateur woodworker for sure :), now that I have healed up from a few years of a lot of illness stuff it is time to work on my skill and have fun :). I have a question on the finish, I know it has only been 1 year, but how is the finish holding up?
Thanks again for all that you do :)
