When people start treating science like a religion, complete with persecuting people who don’t agree with you as though they are heretics. ( And I assure you the secular world is doing just that.) Shouldn’t they be treated as a religion and shouldn’t there be a separation of church and state in that case too? Hey, if it quacks like a church and acts like a church, isn’t it indeed a church.

In school libraries, there should be a section for world religions. A copy of all sacred texts should be available.

Separation of Church and State does not mean that Religion should be removed from the state as so many anti religious people interpret it. It means that there shall be no state mandated religion. The founders never intended for religion to be absent from public office or schools, and they specifically said that our society can only remain free if God was involved.

This is one reason I feel so lucky to have gone to school during the late 1980's, early 90's in Utah.
We got to have a class that was separate from school called Seminary, where we learned and were expected to read the entire Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price.

Having to read sacred texts from cover to cover (Bible, Koran, Book of Mormon, Ramayana etc.) would be a very positive education for all generations in the United States.

Put the Bible back in schools? Sure, as well as texts from every other religion. It should be open, free thought.

I was raised in Utah. My early years included prayer, Pledge of Allegiance, The Golden Rule and The Ten Commandments. But, about Jr. high is when separation of church and State was put into law and it all disappeared. We did have Seminary, so it didn’t affect us as much as the rest of the world. But things really did change in the feel of schools, rules, respect of authority, bullying got worse, etc. Schools have gone down hill since. One of my sons went to a special unit in the school system and they did teach a little about about 5 top religions. I honestly think that we should do that. I think we would see a rise of education and respect for the teachers might actually come back.

I’m sure the evangelicals who endorse this would love the Book of Mormon being taught in public schools

I disagree with the Supreme Court on prayer in schools. It was never promoting a certain religion. When i was growing up we had many different students of different faiths pray. It didnt matter what religion they were. It didn't even matter if they believed in a certain God. I think the Supreme Court at the time took liberties that were not granted to them. They shouldnt interpet the Constitution, but rule based on what the Constitution says. The First Amendment prohibits the government from establishinh the religion, and allows us as citizens the free exercise as we see git. We do not have a religion that was established by the government therefore we have a separation of church and state.

Religion is a large part of our history and should be in our history classes.

If you graduate HS and are not literate in biblical history/stories/language, are you really educated? The bible is woven through everything in our society. People should understand that. Opening up the bible doesn't necessarily open up religion, other texts, etc.

In Mexico the church ships ANYTHING from the lds store for free... no matter the amount.
Once I bought a BoM in Korean for a Korean teacher, and cost me 1 USD, hard cover and free shipping to my house.

The church can donate all the bibles and BoM for free to every school

LDS here, I think we should have a plethora of religious books readily available inside school libraries. 'Teaching' religious documents is way too ripe for whoever is doing the teaching (state or teachers) beliefs to seep into. It should be up to free will to search religious books, I have recently actually done this and read the Quran from my school's library.
Alternatively we could have an elective that spends a week on every major world religion and christian denomination and what their core beliefs are.

Let's bring the Book of Mormon to schools! It's another testament of Jesus Christ! And it will bless your country if you do that. ❤
