This image features UGC 12588, an unusual spiral galaxy located in the constellation Andromeda. Unlike typical spiral galaxies, UGC 12588 lacks a central star bar and distinguished spiral arms. As a result, it has a round, unstructured appearance that kind of looks like a cinnamon bun! Its faint arms are visible mainly due to blue stars on the outer edges of the galaxy, where new star formation likely occurs.
