Wizards and Warriors new animated fantasy documentary lore video will talk about the world of Dragon Age and describe its history before the games. In the waning years of the Blessed Age, reptilian wings blanketed the sun. Dragons, thought to have been hunted to extinction centuries earlier, reappeared in the skies above the world of men and devastated the countryside of Orlais and Nevarra. Reading this as an epochal omen, Faustine II, Divine of the Chantry, declared a new age: the Dragon Age, which in her holy wisdom, she predicted would be a time of violence, upheaval, and dramatic change. Thus begins the period in which the titularly named Dragon Age games take place, yet this is not where the history of its world begins. We will talk about the vibrant and tumultuous continent of Thedas, exploring the immortal hubris of ancient Elvhenan, and the rise of the Blood Mages of Tevinter, describe how these mages brought the Blight upon the world and how the First Blight started, about the religious and political response as prophetess Andraste and her husband Maferath declared war against the Tevinter Empire and led an Exalted March against it, changing the Thedas forever. How Andraste's death made her a martyr, allowing her Chantry to take over the whole of Thedas and how the confluence of these events allowed the humans to continue growing in power and led by the Chantry they were able to conquer the elves, destroying their homeland - the Dales. At this point, a new player arrived to the continent - the Qunari, leading to the Qunari Wars. We will also talk about Ferelden and how it became one of the most important states of the continent.

All the Dragon Age games have such deep and wonderful lore. Can't wait to see what Dreadwolf adds to the world.

Replaying dragon age origins really had reminded me how much I loved the lore and universe. Playing the game from the perspective of dwarves, elves, men or my favourite mage really is something I can revisit again and again.

BioWare should pay you for this video. You deserve it. This should be included on every purchase of Dragon Age Origins.

I love how they showed a drawing of Carver when they were talking about why everyone hates Ferelden.

Thank you. 100x thank you. You gave true justice to the Dragon Age lore. It’s so deep and rich that it can’t be explored in a short video. You truly respected the lore and kept it accurate. I love Dragon Age as much as I love Mass Effect (which is a lot). You truly deserve respect and praise for taking the time to make lore videos like these and so many others. Again, thank you!

The more I listen to the lore of Dragon Age, the more I think the "Old Ones" are simply the Elvenari. There were originally 9, Mythol was murdered, and the dread wolf would have protected himself against the corruption as he caused it with the creation of the veil. Furthermore, he may have even cursed the Evenari into dragon form as punishment for the murder of Mythol. This would even make sense within the rest of the Dragon Age lore.

The floating city, or the black city, would have been the fortress of the Dread Wolf. The Tevinter Mages attempted to break into the Black City at the behest of the Old Gods, who are trapped in the Fade. That would have been punished harshly by the Dread Wolf. That would also explain why the old gods are always the arch demons, they are taking their revenge against those that The Dread Wolves defends. The question then would be, why are there physical forms of the old gods on Thedas, and spiritual forms trapped in the Fade? That could have been a result fo the creation of the veil. It separated spirit and physical bodies, so their spirits could still be trapped in the fade and their physical forms trapped on Thedas. Perhaps dragons are the elvenari's natural physical form, that they kept tempered with magic when the veil did not exist?

So many questions, but I'm willing to bet we'll get some answers in the Dread Wolf entry up coming. I have not looked into the lore of Dragon Age since I was 16, but I'm really glad I'm getting back into it. Can't wait for answers! Awesome videos by the way!

I missed hearing quite a bit more on the Dwarves. Some of the most interesting fictional peoples to me, their history, religion, castes and culture far beyond what the blights seemed to reduce them to.
But an amazing series nonetheless. Great job!

🌿 Couslands of Highever 🌿
I kept that family sword and used it until the very end. Didn't care how much harder it made some fights. Winning them was epic anyway.

Dragon Age has my favorite history and world building of any fantasy franchise that I've encountered. This is a fantastic video and I love that you can't even really do a video on the events of the games; because your choices in the games can change so much of the history and events.

I've never heard of this channel before...but godAMN if this video isn't the best thing ever. It's so engaging and well produced.
Aside from a few pronunciation errors, it's good. Loved it!
