Speaking hypothetically, if Eggman wasn't needed to cure the virus; I think this is a Joker situation where it really doesn't matter if "two wrongs don't make a right" or "vengeance is wrong", this whole mess is Eggman's fault and if he's spared, he will cause more suffering. Cream's attitude is admirable, but lets not pretend that the world isn't better off without him.

Cream sold me on this whole saga. Seeing her kindness, her overwhelming empathy, not to mention a courage well beyond her years, was that one going of hope that kept the story going. The fact she didn’t lose her innocence when those of lesser spirit would be forever scarred.
