A good acronym to memorize when learning the subjunctive is W. E. I. R. D. O. S. Yes, there are exceptions of course, but this acronym will help you greatly.

W = wish
E = emotion
I = interrogation/imperative (question)
R = requests
D = doubt
O = obligation
S = speculation
