As much as you would think this is an easy subject - NC - Normally Closed - Meaning without the magnet the switch is normally closed - in other words makes a closed contact without force.  I have purchased NC switches only to find out they are actually NO (Normally Open), this is even after writing the company that is selling them to verify what type they are - sad when they don't even understand.  From my last purchase after even verifying with an explanation before purchase - "We are afraid that our definition of NC may be different from yours".  Thank you for this simple video that shows how they work.
