I've got a "closed" working crossing a stone's toss from my apartment. It would cost more to remove it than to keep it in working order for decades. I like it as it works nicely as a warning that a train is in the no-horn zone.

There's a procedure for removing crossing signals. We (NS) had three in Circleville, Ohio, that had been abandoned for years. The state pays for all crossing warnings from signs to gates. It's up to the state to say they can be removed. Other rules state that if the equipment is there, it's supposed to be working and tested as if it were still in operation. I know, it's stupid. Once we got permission to remove it, it was gone in under an hour.

Retired NS signalman.

I must tell you Mr Jaw Teeth, that I enjoy your videos with commentary very much. I’m retired and have medical restrictions that restrict my outdoor activities so you are my extended vision of the world.
Thank you

Probably costs too much to dismantle it!

Have you ever considered getting us videos of abandoned railroad tracks? Old right of ways and old bridges? I like your videos very much and I would love to see some old abandoned trackage areas - history.
