What? Another reason to buy an AMD CPU? Great!

Home users don't need to worry, there are far FAR more destructive and effective hacks that use conventional means to gain access to your PC. These CPU exploits are incredibly inefficient at extracting useful data. Nefarious individuals are not going to use these exploits to attack home users when they have MUCH better options available. The CPU exploits are only really a danger to virtual hosts as they provide a usable tunnel to spy on on other VMs being run on the same system. So if you're a home PC user, just forget about it, it's not going to be an issue for you.

Honestly this 'exploit' while sounding devastating would literally require a controlled environment, an knowing what programs you were running on the system.. and taking a negative from what was actually in cache.

one would literally have to store, & accurately larger & more growing numbers, sorting through alot of background calculations that go on in a typical system... let alone a production system that's nearly constantly under 60% or greater load.

This set of exploits while theoretically possible in a controlled setup is stupidly impractical on every level. the data the CPU stores isn't some string or code fragment.. it is literally a mathematical equation, a single step, a fraction of MACHINE CODE, and not only would you literally have to track every single one, and some how to decompile MACHINE CODE from what's effectively the central point for all things going on in the computer, but somehow separate ALLL the different programs & do so on EVERY SINGLE CORE/THREAD the CPU has... just to get a chance of getting anything useful.

This is a scary theoretical attack, & at that so ... high skill to get anything useful... that there are other methods you'd have to use to even get that going .. that you could use more conventional high-level programs instead.

Hi!
One cannot resist snatching up your videos because you are a person who knows the subject. You are concerned about giving the correct perspective, but its not so easy to to understand and act on the issue for the average user or even the avid hard working user.
Consider this scenario. I only need the computer to write letters, make a few spreadsheets and play around with graphics like making a photocopy of some documents and printing them. In fact dos or even win 3.1 could do. Open source came to my rescue, but progressively I am drawn or forced into getting updates or face problems with my printer. Forced to use the internet . messaging and email is of course a great gift to all.
Perhaps the internet needs to make sure my PC and other devices. Do not compromise the internet.
Thanks for putting us on the alert.

And here I am, feeling more and more happy each day that I decided to do a build with a Ryzen.

The next PC I build will probably be AMD.

This sucks so bad, I just built a 9900k build, wish I went with AMD tbh... On the other hand sc performance is very important for me. Sigh.

😤 Intel never ceases to surprise me in how they just simply didn't find a way to put in protective measures way back when, anyway I'm looking forward to micro-updates for this exploit (that's for sure)

It might be a dumb question, but how does flashing the BIOS help with a CPU hardware problem?
