Webinar: Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Structures Using DIANA

(SMART 2013 Benchmark)
This online session gives an example of how dynamic analysis can be performed. Candidates attending this session will become familiar with the linear and nonlinear dynamic analysis capabilities of DIANA. A scaled trapezoidal 3-story reinforced concrete mock-up of a nuclear building on a shaking table, as used for the SMART 2013 benchmark, is investigated. First, the modelling of the building, as well as the shaking table, is discussed. This discussion is then followed by performing a free vibration eigenvalue analysis and, subsequently, response spectrum analysis (RSA) and push-over analysis. Finally, transient dynamic analyses are carried out on the same model, assuming a seismic loading applied at the shaking table. Nonlinear material properties are included in the structure and the outcome is compared with the experimental results.
