the WHOLE key is to comprehend. Do not memorize. Comprehend the subject, recite it and if writing works better for you, do that. DO memorize the BOLD letters on the list that you have, then explain the commentary. THEN apply it as you drive for the driving test. IT IS NOT to recite the commentaries one by one as you drive. It is to apply the commentary as the situation happens.

If you are a person that is always late, no matter what, well...leave that for another day. YOU MUST be on time. It is military style. Just accept the one week training as it is.

YOU ARE NOT THERE TO MAKE FRIENDS!! Go prepared and pay attention. That you owe the rent, that your wife or husband is cheating, that you have $10 bucks to eat for the entire week...EVERYTHING MUST BE out of your system. Focus. Pay attention. Be on time. Be detailed. Apply the knowledge and your eyes are on the instructor. Do your computer work alone. Keep your area clean. Push in the chair. Know where your folder is and the number. When you are ready to jump on the bus, be the second or third. TAKE the seat and do not apologize. THAT person will CARELESS if you pass or not. IT IS YOUR SKIN. YOUR FUTURE. OWN IT!!

DO NOT look in the eyes of the instructor. He or she will be looking for facial hair very close up but if you TRACE his eyes...you just made an ENEMY. Your eye sight....STRAIGHT!

One week before the curse, practice on your car, play YouTube videos on your car (Blue tooth), DESCRIBE....RAISE and keep a STRONG voice CONSTANT.

The major hurdle is describing the driving. The other stuff is manageable. Do not get nervous. GET A HOLD of yourself. A skinny man, an overweight woman, a middle age person...RAISE THE VOICE, TAKE CHARGE, OWN IT, SOUND LIKE A SARGENT, OVER DO IT, ATTITUDE OF YES OR YES AND YOU MUST BE AS DETAILED AND ATTENTIVE AS YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN.

Look at yourself at the mirror after reciting the 5 habits and 10 comments and scream...FIRE JOHH!!! FIRE MARY!! FIRE...FIRE..FIRE!!! IS what you are going to give them with your personality: FIRE.

If you do this and pass, then comes the real thing. One month of route and if you fail, you are done. YOU must keep the same ATTITUDE AND DRIVE.

Having said are in line for $36 per hour and $54 overtime....AND....Season is coming.

YOU UNDERSTAND?

*THANK YOU*

iit is not for the likes but..here is an update:

UPDATE:

-Learn word by word ONLY the 5 habits. I mean....WORD by WORD, even dash, commas..

- memorize the BOLD words of the 10 point commentary BUT understand at least 3 points of the description. You will have to write the 5 habits and 10 point commentary FIRST. The instructor will call you and if there is one part that needs to be cleared, then you can explain, not memorize that part.

- If you can, get the 5 and 10 out on the first or by second day. Concentrate on the computer work. If you finish day one, go to day two.

- Many activities during the day will keep you busy so do not waste time..

- No socializing.

- If you are called, get up, push in your chair and go. If you get up for the restroom, push in your chair. If not, when you come back, your chair is gone for about 20 minutes. Do not go and get it. stay in your spot and keep going. The instructor will tell you when to get it back. DO NOT worry about the eyes from the other members.

- Bring protein bars for any hunger urges. drink water.

- You will be with a partner The same partner for the entire week. two per truck. feed from each other. Become friends. BUT you can find other friends and...and...ASK!!.

- Do not look or feel cocky you know it all. If you have a question, ASK. If not so sure of the answer, ask an instructor directly. Point blank.

- On the road test, drive like you are driving your grandmother and child on the back of the car. Not too slow, not too fast but aware of the precious cargo.

- WHATEVER YOU NOT!!! DO NOT!! HIT A CURB!!

If you do, you are done. think of this: you come back KNOWING something happened but when you returned to your seat, no name on top of the computer. Then you are called and told that you are DQ. You are told to leave and go to the parking for the van to pick you up. The instructor will go ALL the way to the hotel, check you out and thank you.
The van will take you the long way to the airport or you will drive 4-5 hours alone....all alone. You may take the trip alone from Integrad to the hotel, only with the driver. YOU WANT THAT?

NO!!....DO NOT HIT A CURB!!

This is what you do: when you get to a stop sign or traffic light, stup then turn A BIT to the left, cut tight and go LANE TO LANE, look at the mirror to the right, lower mirror, slow, proceed. Stay away from the curb.

Put it this way: you can cal " left intersection clear" and there is a car. Mix eye lead time with following distance, etc. You go back and review to improve. BUT IF YOU hit the curb, that is it.

- If you know you did HORRIBLE, ask, learn improve but quick. Go out at night to practice if you need to. Do whatever you need to do. Ask your partner for guidance OR you might be good in computer but not so food in driving. Help each other.

- For the INTEGRATION area, now the layout and follow the keys on the DIAD to press. Even if you cross the streets by walking, look LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT. Show them you are looking LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT.

- Concentrate on the computer work, improve your driving skills, ASK and do not look at the time. Just keep going.

- TIMMS: TRAFFIC LIGHT- HAZARD.
INTERSECTION - HAZARD.
MOORISTS - HAZARD.
PEDESTIRAN (look around)- CLEAR
LEFT MIRROR - CLEAR (if no car in sight)

RAFFIC LIGHT- HAZARD.
INTERSECTION - HAZARD.
MOORISTS - HAZARD.
PEDESTIRAN - HAZARD (now someone at the corner showed up)

*RIGHT MIRROR- HAZARD*

RAFFIC LIGHT- HAZARD.
INTERSECTION - HAZARD.
MOORISTS - HAZARD.
PEDESTIRAN (look around)- CLEAR
LEFT MIRROR - CLEAR (if no car in sight)

IF STILL IN RED, KEEP GOING. REPEAT. REPEAT.

Now, the light is green.

SAY...FRESH GREEN LIGHT

FRESH GREEN LIGHT. YOU ARE IN FRONT OF A VEHICLE. THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OFF ON THE VEHICLE IN FRONT, COUNT 1, 2, 3, DROP THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, START DRIVING.

Pass the first CROSS WALK, SAY *FIRST CROSSWALK CLEAR*, THEN PASS SECOND CROSSWALK, THEN SAY * SECOND CROSSWALK CLEAR* .

The you see a speed limit, say SPEED LIMT 35, I AM DONG 30.

SEE A RIGHT BLOCK CLEAR, then say RIGHT INTERSECTION CLEAR, FOLLOWING DISTANCE IS 6 SECONDS, LEFT MIRROR HAZARD (there is a car)..

Now you see the left intersection with a car, LEFT INTERSECTION HAZARD, REAR VIEW MIRROR HAZARD, RIGHT MIRROR HAZARD (if there is a car).

- DO NOT GO MIRROR TO MIRROR. The only way you can go mirror to mirror is when backing up.

2 MINUTE DRILL
After driving and giving the commentary, you will be told, do the 2 minute drill.

Very important: do not mix drill with commentary. Concentrate on a section that you have to recite as quick as possible and consistency. The first 2 days, it will be on the streets but on the ASSESSMENT DAY, it will be most likely on the highway.

This is what you will say and consistent, talking fast but focused:

EYE LEAD TIME (pick a spot, sign, post, tree) DO NOT SAY 8-12 SECONDS.

EYE LEAD TIME, THE YELLOW SIGN (is one block away or 12 seconds away or more)

FOLLOWING DISTANCE - 8 SECONDS

SPEED LIMIT - 65, I AM GOING 60.

LEFT CURB, LEFT MIRROR - HAZARD

EYE LEAD TIME - THE GREEN SIGN

FOLLOWING DISTANCE- MORE THAN 12 SECONDS OR 12 SECONDS

SPEED LIMIT 70, I AM GOING 65

RIGHT CURB, RIGHT MIRROR - HAZARD

EYE LEAD TIME- THE BRIDGE

FOLLOWING DISTANCE - 12 SECONDS

SPEED LIMIT - 70, I AM GOING 70.

LEFT CURB, LEFT MIRROR - HAZARD

REPEATING, KEEP REPEATING....

YOU PASSED!

---
FOR people scared of big trucks: stay on the right lane, look in front, close the door before going on the highway, do not look at the trailer or truck....just DO NOT GO ON THE RIGHT WHITE YOU DO AND LOOK SCARED, YOU ARE DQ.

NOW YOU PASS:

YOU PASSED AND FEEL STRONG, ALL MIGHTY. BEFORE LEAVING, get the mobile of the manager at your new center, your immediate manager in the current position and send them a text. I passed!! with the picture you your book with your name and number.

Report on Monday but you will not work most likely that day but on Tuesday. Report at 8:40 is your time BUT you will ARRIVE AT 7:30.

Now you go on a truck for your route in the next 30 days. know it, eat it, sleep it, make love to it. Go in your car and drive the route. Get a good map of that specific area of your route. Know it.

After 3 days, you are on your own.

Keep the truck clean, wash it twice per week, no like the uniform. Keep it clean and pretty. It is your new baby, house.

Now you can buy me a coke.

:)

I loved the way you did this, (slowly, with cards and no music) however, it isn't verbatim. Even so, it helped me pass my depth of knowledge test. When time permits, could you re-do? The time in between changing your cards, allowed me to pause the video, and say what I thought the next line was. Thanks a million.

The 10 point commentary for UPS Freight has been updated and is different. The points are in a different order. First point has to do with how much space when stopped. It is much more detailed. Would like to see a version of this posted.

Question: Is this requirement for on-road drivers and driver supervisors only ? What of the nonroad yard personnel shifters and package car staging crew ? Please help.😊

Thanks soooo much for his video! I have this down but I do better if I understand. That said. Number 2, the explanation confuses me at the end. "Instant cushion if it should make a turn"? If it is stalled out then it wont make a turn? Expect the unexpected so the car could make a turn at random once restarted but once you decide to drive AROUND, there isn't really cushion anymore, now said car is beside you? And probably really close. Once said car is started the decisions from there are 100% random on their end, I feel eye contact and horns would be better, Especially if the driver does not use their mirrors. I'm not changing rules, i know i'm over analyzing. Just trying to process and understand EXACTLY what that last part refers to, because im pretty sure i'm interpenetrating wrong. Because cushion from the car in front is great, but once you decide to go around there are a million things that could still go wrong. lol But that's it, everything else is gravy. Thanks again! <3 :) You are awesome! Just maybe an analogy for that last part. <3
