Having an electric tracked motor move 60-100kgs of explosive is insanely advanced for the 1940s

I feel that this was just a bunch of German engineers who wanted to make a cool tracked remote control vehicle, and then they drove it past Hitler who went “we can make a bomb out of this”

Naming a mini tank Goliath may be the peak of German comedy

Remarkable how many of them are still around in museums, given that they were intended to blow up.

I think they also had a RC version, which is insane for the time. The issue with the electric version was the high need for copper in order to build the electric motors. Copper had to be imported and was scarce, since it was needed for basically everything that ran on electricity. This is also the reason why Ferdinand Porsche's diesel-electric design for the Tiger was rejected. The need for copper was so insane that production would've not only made every tank wildly expensive, but also drain Nazi Germany of all its copper reserves.

Just seeng a puppy in a tank with a adult shepard giving it a high-five is just the greatest picture ever.

The Polish war movie “Kanal” includes a scene where Home Army soldiers sever the cable on a Goliath, exactly what was described in the video.

A concept ahead of its time, but relevant today.

The absolute best thing about those is that allied forces had fun keeping them and doing races by sitting on top when they had free time

The coffee mug on the Goliath is a nice touch.

So cool germans were using remote control Arial and ground bombs in the early 1940s

Love this thing in MoWAS, the enemy AI don’t recognise it as a priority target so you can spawn one every minute and send it to hide in the enemy rear lines until they start spawning expensive vehicles

It ain’t the size that matters, but rather the amount of energy it holds

Imagine the bravery needed to cut the control cables on the remote bomb. The intended operation of the Goliath involved a spotter watching the bomb all the way to its target and communicating to the controller. You would have no way of knowing you wouldn’t be spotted near it and the controller deciding to prematurely detonate the device to prevent it’s capture
