i just figured it out

jax is a troll. think about it.
he has 3 fingers(well 2 and a thumb), which i also thought was weird,
but so does trundle!

and jax is bigger than human, with odd proportions...trundle! bigger than human, and cartoon-y proportions, like larger forearms, shoulders and shins, just like trundle!

jax is a troll warrior, not accepted for his race, so he hides his face to fight anonymously, thus gaining more respect from those around him. also explains how the lamp post could be carried by him.

Hasn't Nautilus' story changed to where he is basically the kraken gods massive guard dog now capable of bringing down entire ships with his anchor, he'd be very big. You read out the old lore where he was betrayed by his fellow sailors and the league still existed.
