Flint City Councilman Eric Mays, 1st Ward, addresses criticisms during a town hall meeting on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020 for performing the Nazi salute and comparing Council President Monica Galloway to Adolf Hitler at the Jan. 13 general council meeting.

People blowing this out of proportion. He held up the nazi salute because he felt Galloway was dictating. He wasn’t insulting to Jews. I’ve called people a hitler and held up my hand cause they were acting like a hitler, a dictator. So it was to insult the person not the Jews. Mays ain’t perfect, he does wrong, but not here. People trying to get him on anything, but did nothing to Kate Fields who stuck her middle finger up and said f you in a professional public meeting being filmed. No one told her to apology. I can’t cuss out my coworkers no matter what, I’d get fired. Where’s the outrage over Fields? If Mays did it to her all the women would be outraged saying he’s sexist, how dare you say that to a woman. Punish everyone equally. Whether you like Mays or not, don’t forget the wrongs of others on that council, make them accountable too.
