Secularism is the principle of separation of the state from religious institutions.

Secularism is important because this can refer to reducing ties between a government and a state religion, replacing laws based on scripture with civil laws and eliminating discrimination on the basis of religion.

A secular state claims to treat all its citizens equally regardless of religion, and claims to avoid preferential treatment for a citizen based on their religious beliefs, affiliation or lack of either over those with other profiles.

Secularism is important in the country because it allows the people of various religions live peacefully without any fear of the majority.

Advantages of Secularism are freedom to choose and practice your belief/faith/religion, and no state laws could be made against religious system.

Secularism is an essential feature of democracy as it is founded on liberal attitude and brings in tolerance in the social-cultural milieu. These two would lead to protect the principle of cooperation on which the democratic value fraternity is based.
