Hugh McCann - How Does God Relate to the World?

If God is the Creator, what is God's on-going relationship with the creation? Does God sustain the world by an active process, such that if God stopped doing so, the world would disappear? Or does the world now have a kind of self-existence independent of God? Moreover, does God ever make special interventions into the world, otherwise known as 'miracles'?

Hugh McCann was an American philosopher and professor in the Philosophy Department at Texas A&M University.

How does my cat relate to world ? Eat, poop, wants attention and my house is my cat’s throne.

Any amount of "God", is far too Let's step back into "reality", and come to terms with the fact that there is "NO GOD", as well when one dies, "that's it", it is all over, you decompose, have absolutely no sense of awareness forevermore, until the end of time and far beyond. Remember death is Life is finite.

We live in Euclidean space, governed by Pythagorean theorems, made from ideal circles, perfectly straight lines and infinitely small dots.

Amazing, some people have access to God's mind. Why? Because humans created Gods.

Which God are we referring to? Each one might relate differently to the world.

Obviously God relates to the world as an ultimately evil omnipotent being. And it's in relation to Him that all of us are impotent beings. We're wholly defenseless against Him. Not that God necessarily exists mind you.

Question of century is Why do we exist?? At first place when all we do not do thing we ought to do? What is the objective of God??

I think he makes a really interesting point about Newton’s laws. Never thought about them that way. Causality doesn’t confer existence

God doesn't relate to the world, it is people scared of death imagining non death

Remember : he, she or it has a
"DIVINE PLAN" so, do not even
pray, or ask for anything or tell it
what you want or need .
She already knows what's gonna
happen so, why bother.
ARE YOU SO "IMPORTANT", that God is going to change his PLAN, cause of you ???
That's what George Carlin said.
I think he was damn right.

Why is it that almost all the religions, in the classic sense, refer to God as "he". That must mean God is a person i guess. BTW i am a believer but i wish my faith were stronger.

We cannot know what god is. We are too small. We make a mistake trying to assign human attributes to god (angry, jealous, so on). God is not human, so it won’t act like one. To understand god is to understand the divine in yourself.

So if God is already "fully intervened" and has set things in motion, why pray?

How does any deity relate to the world? How does Shiva relate? How about Zeus? Amaterasu? Osiris? You can never know the answers to these questions, except through your own conjectures, so it’s all sort of a waste of time.
