I grew up driving a 16' boat at full throttle in every condition but 12' swells. The water has a rhythm and you have to figure out what that rhythm is for every sea condition. Driving straight into the swells will get you a boat load of water and maybe a rescue after you sink. In the worst of conditions (with wind speeds above 50 mph) you have to come off full throttle and drive the waves, but in lesser conditions, you can drive the waves at full throttle without getting soaked. It takes time to learn how to do this, but with experience it can be done.

looks like a pretty fun sea trial to me.

“I have this fabulous new hull design!!! It’s great for when you need to take a quick bath!! What’s that?? Oh, no!! I wouldn’t take it offshore if I were you.”

The buoyancy of that bow doesn't increase until it's almost stuffed which is too late.

To be fair, the hull design performed perfectly when it was 60cm long in a swimming pool.

Don’t know if it went very wrong, but it definitely went very wet!😂😂😂

I tried Jupiter Inlet in Florida on a bad day. I managed to turn back at the beach on the right going out. We got an idiot who tried swimming in that water on qualudes. He was under for over 20 minutes and survived. If it's not your time to go you can survive anything. The colder water and the drug had something to do with it but he should have died and was fine after regaining consciousness many hours later. That was the late 70s very early 80's.

I've watched this dozens of times. I just can't get over how many times this guy continued to crest this over the waves and utterly plow into the trough. That T bow wants to slice through 2-3' waves and probably give a smooth ride at speed when the frequency is further apart, but cresting like this, in this channel chop, gives absolutely no boyancy forward to crest the next, it wants to submerge as we all see. I'll stick with my Viking's Carolina flare and use speed appropriate for the conditions.

If they wanted to design a boat that nearly drowns its occupants, well, they hit the mark !

Well, that's one way of making sure that your shipmates get their monthly bath, whether they need it or not 👍

I cannot believe there isn't software that might help you sort that out BEFORE you build one. Let's hope it wasn't more than one.

Never wear your Sunday best when buying a boat and going to Haulover for your test drive. People in the back look like they are going out to eat or something. By how they're dressed!!

Want to get out on the water but expect not to get wet?
Take a ferry ride and stay in your car with the windows rolled up

Not a fail, just testing the waterproof electronics out. Gotta make sure they can handle a good bath.

Shuda bought the full front window option. It keeps the salt water off the dash instruments and captain.

Fascinating new take on windshield wiper squirter. I’m always biching for more not less water. Finally someone has come up with a solution.
