I have a lot of multipick items. Their engineering is second to none. I think for a true beginner meaning someone who has never held a pick before this set is a lil much. There are cheaper sets of like 6 picks or so from southord that if you really are just beginning something like that would be fine for you and give you a good idea of what's going on inside the lock

I think what would sale this particular set, would be be the 30 year warranty. Now, what the company interprets as "adequate" use, will ultimately be a bit of a gamble for the consumer and left at the discretion of Multipick to send out replacements. Would locksporters fall under "adequate usage?" Just my two cents anyway. Great review as always, HLP.

If you can afford them they're the best picks out there, no doubt. Also they have draws when you buy a set to win more picks & stuff, plus that 30 years nobody does.

I've had the Elite 27 set for about 4 months now. I love almost everything about it. The craftsmanship is of the highest quality, the contents of the set give you a very thorough selection, and the leather case is truly a work of art. My only complaint about them is the material they are made from. I collect lock picks from all of the high end manufacturers and I find that these picks are on the lower side of the list for durability. Keep in mind that I am only comparing them to other high quality picks, so the low end of this list is still pretty good. The strongest picks I own seem to be the SouthOrd Max (301 high yield stainless), although I recently acquired some Peterson government steel (420 stainless) picks which seem pretty strong as well, but I haven't used them enough to determine how they fair long term. I just want to make sure I'm being clear that I'm not saying that the Multipicks are weak, just that they aren't the strongest. I don't know what kind of steel Multipick uses. It is some variety of spring steel I believe. All lock picks will eventually start to develop a backward curve after prolonged heavy tension picking, but the Multipick picks start to develop that curve more quickly than some of the other picks I have available. As a result, I find that I have been using my Multipick set less often in favor of my SouthOrd Max picks. With all that being said, I haven't conducted any form of scientific testing. This is just what has been my personal experience using lock picks from a variety of manufacturers.
