These things grow wild in the caribbean lol. He's not lying. The way these trees are designed is amazing. Once they bear fruit they die but they spread their seed beforehand and a few months later you have a bunch of the platanos or banana trees all over your yard before you know it.

I have a small organic banana farm in the Virgin Islands. 400 plus trees, 8 varieties so far. I've been growing for only 2 years, but already it is the funnest "job" I ever had.

Yes, you can grow bananas in warmer climates, unless you live in the colder areas which you have to protect them with the only flaw is that bananas fruit in any year, I mean any actually, if your un lucky that your banana fruits at November or later in colder areas, say bye bye to them.

Fun fact: the leaves on the banana plant can be used as plates for dishes and the core of bananas are edible, even the flower is edible.

Looks like Cavendish? I grow Cavendish indoors in the UK, our summers are too short for flowering. Only Musa basjoo does well outdoors here, but the bananas are inedible.

But watch for the roots near your house, my banana roots lifted up my patio, & nearly my conservatory, so regrettingly I had to cut it down 😞
