Friendly buff orpington rooster george

George my friendly rooster. He follows me all around the yard like a dog with feathers! I can be working in the garden and doing yard work and he tries to help

I have several Buff roosters and raised them all exactly the same way. Some just seem bend on meanness, but one in particular is just like a lil dog, just as lovable ! Cuddles to me and begs to snuggle into me. And he fends off the other meaner roosters from me. Very protective.

I’ve always heard that buff Orpingtons Are the golden retrievers of the chicken world. I have shared my life with a few of them, and they are loyal, loving, intelligent companions. Completely changed my way of thinking regarding chickens. I now have four other chickens that are different breeds that are friendly as well. But the Orpington‘s are super special! My husband and I had a beautiful 'full black' Australorp rooster that we loved so much. He was really sweet with the ladies; very laid back with humans and was just the most beautiful bird you have ever seen...then the neighbours complained about the noise (eye roll), and we gave him away to an Australorp breeder. Thankfully he went to a good home with seven lovely ladies to keep happy on an acre to himself. But we miss him so...

Roosters and hens can definitely display a lot of affection. When I was a kid, we had 2 roosters and a few hens. When my mom would return from work they could see her a block away. Next thing you know, they are running to her and then walk back home with her, clucking away with whatever stories they had to tell her for the day!
