Devo performing Freedom of Choice, live at The Observatory in Los Angeles, exclusively on Moshcam.

David Bowie dubbed them "the band of the future", Brian Eno produced their debut and everyone from Nirvana to Soundgarden and Rage Against The Machine have covered them.

A contagious collision of New Wave punk, arty experimentalism and subversive politics, these music mavericks burst onto the world scene in the late '70s and turned pop music on its head forever with hits like 'Whip It', 'Girl U Want', 'Mongoloid' and 'Beautiful World'.

So when the chance to film these icons in action at The Observatory at Santa Ana, California came up earlier this year, we jumped at it. Needless to say, they didn't disappoint, delivering a spectacle jammed with hits old and new, gloriously oddball antics and their mental mascot, Booji Boy.

"The Mayan calendar was wrong," frontman Jerry Casale told the crowd on the night. "The world is not going to end this year so you're stuck with us for a long time."

We wouldn't have it any other way, Jerry.

utterly amazing that a band that old, playing that kind of music, can sound that good. I dare say they sound even better then they did when they recorded this music!

This is pretty great. In ancient Rome there was a poem 'bout a dog who found two bones,
picked at one, licked the other, walked in circles then dropped dead. A sad tale but the point,
I suppose, is not to be overwhelmed by the choices. Maybe someday I'll understand this if I can
see Devo live a few more times and get spud wiser.

I think they sound better in the video than on the actual album. What an awesome group
