You can move forward in time. You just have to protect yourself from entropy for as long as you need to. You can't travel backwards in time because you would have to reverse entropy in the area around you and anywhere you wanted to go and then when you started it forward again things would play out differently so you'd never wind up where you wanted to go.

IF YOU GO BACK IN TIME YOU END UP IN A NEW STRING OF REALITY. AN CAN'T COME BACK TO YOUR OWN STRING. AND EVERYONE HERE ASSUME YOU WENT MISSING. 😱

Even if we travel through time, we don't necessarily travel through space. If we went forward in time even a minute, but did not also travel through space, we'd miss the earth entirely and be floating through space, albeit at some time in the future.

I think we'll kind of be able to do VR backwards time travel but it'll be similar to modern archeology where it's just a really good guess not the EXACT past.

Out of all the time manipulation ideas out there, I think stretching time or slowing it is the most productive.

If you skip forward in time all you've done is abandoned your past. Where moving productivity of decades of work into a mere instant then you can give the rest of the world a shortcut. Haha only draw back is the fact you'd probably age in an instant to everyone else who knew or cared about you.

There was another explanation I remember hearing, if time travel is ever created that point is the furthest back one can go as if its a road network

I would have thought the answer was we have been travelling forward in time at every moment since the dawn of the universe, but nobody has ever travelled backwards through it. Under certain circumstances, it has been proven that you can travel forward at a slower or faster rate but never backwards. The issue is that even when relative time has travelled at different rates, both the observed and the observer end up in the same reality at the same time. It just took a different duration for them to get there.

there are so many reasons that backward time travel isn't possible.

however we already do time travel somewhat. again only into the future. there is evidence as the faster you travel towards the speed of light the slower time goes, I can't remember specifically but 2 identical clocks 1 left on earth the other sent to the ISS, the one on the ISS was like 1.5 seconds slower after traveling at 17k mph for a month. so they theorize that if you can approach the speed of light (186, 000 miles per second) for a month, you could theoretically come back to earth 100+ years in the future, do it for 1 year and come back 1000+ years in the future.

it's so hard to explain for people who aren't surrounded by it to understand.

I mean it does make sense when you think, time and space is moving forward as it is. Or let's say it is moving in a direction. It would make sense that, if at all possible to, if we can move as fast as light or faster we would only be able to go in the direction of space and time.

He's right, think of time as a river, you can divert it, manipulate it, even stop it, but a river will never flow backwards.

I was of the understanding that once a time machine is created, we can go forward and only as far back as the point of creation. so basically, once the time machine is created time ceases to exist and everything happens all at once.

You can't go back past the discovery/invention of time travel portals.

Well, you wouldn't really be traveling forward to the future. The key word used is "possibilities". If you pick and choose from possibilities then you would be in one of many possible futures and when you return the "future" you actually live would likely not be the one you traveled to. It is more likely you could travel to the past because it has already existed and is defined.

You can’t go back in time cause it’s already happened and when going forward in time the only place to come back to is after you left the save matter cannot exist in 2 places at the same time period

Travelling back is far less complex than they make it but they always overlook the simplest method because they think in complicated ways

You can go forward in time by falling asleep. Or freezing yourself

Perhaps when we discover time travel, we might discover time is fixed, our “ decisions “ aren’t really decisions at all, but a predestination .

Time is relative. Technically everyone is living in a different time. Your time changes if you're moving or standing still. If you're at the top of a mountain or at the base. The difference is tiny tiny tiny but it exists. 🤓

I saw in a movie that explained that the reason we can’t go back in time is because that space and time has already been used.

Once you move forward tho - could we return to the point of origin?
