Draw In One Point Perspective (AVOID THESE 5 MISTAKES!)

One point perspective can be very easy to draw once you understand the basics. Today I will teach you 5 things you should avoid while drawing one point perspective and some things you SHOULD focus on instead

The first mistake is when you do not draw everything to one vanishing points and keep lines parallel. In order to fix this we can draw a perspective grid before hand to make sure everything matches up and we do not need to go back and forth to measure.

The second mistake is depth. When an object goes farther back we must remember that it cannot be on the same level as something that is closer to the front. This will also create a tangent. In order to fix this we overlap so whatever is behind goes under the one in front to create a sense of depth.

The third mistake is extending the part of the building in perspective for too long. You must remember that the closer you get to your vanishing point the smaller the side is going to be.

Fourth mistake is scale for humans. It is hard to draw people in an environment especially when it is in perspective. If you do not match it up then they will look either too big or too small. To keep them the same size, we draw dotted lines towards the vanishing point to make sure they are in scale.

Final mistake is when people draw using a birds eye view. You must use one point perspective for this since when you are looking above there is going to be one vanishing point right in the center. If you do not do this everything will look very flat.

I loved this! One pt perspective is something I love trying out, but then there's always something that throws me off. This helped very much to see it more clearly, the way it's supposed to work. Thank you!

2:31. Don't you hate when that happens? It's like, "I'm gonna draw this wrong, " and then it turns out really good. As artists, we just have to get used to the idea that sometimes when we try to draw something badly, it might turn out really good. Unfortunately, That's just going to happen from time to time
