The Marquette Law School Lubar Center Team is pleased to bring you commentary and insights by Charles Franklin and Mike Gousha about the top headlines of the latest poll.

A new statewide survey by the Marquette Law School Poll takes a look at Wisconsin politics one year before the 2022 elections for governor and senator. We look at approval, favorability, and support for reelection of Gov. Tony Evers and of Sen. Ron Johnson, along with approval of the legislature and favorability ratings for Sen. Tammy Baldwin. We also look at enthusiasm about voting in 2022 and compare that to the 2020 electorate.

The survey includes questions about confidence in the accuracy of the 2020 election result and reviews of the election by former justice Michael Gableman and by the Legislative Audit Bureau.

As the redistricting process moves ahead, we ask how closely respondents have been following the proposed plans and how the redistricting process should be conducted. The poll includes measures of concern about inflation, immigration, the coronavirus pandemic and crime, as well as policy questions concerning gun laws, mask and vaccine mandates, and whether the state school superintendent should be elected or appointed.

With schools back in-person we ask if children have fallen behind academically or in their mental and emotional wellbeing as a result of school disruptions due to the coronavirus.
