Client side cheating itself is not illegal.

What *is* illegal is hacking the servers directly; causing direct damage (e.g. crashing lobbies with ddos); and violating copyright, (e.g. by distributing code that contains reverse engineered source code or assets) which is what Bungie and Riot mainly accused the respective cheat sellers of.

In regards to ToS, it is not really a legal contract, and not enforcable legally directly, but can serve as a legal argument in supporting other counts of accusation that are actual crimes.

I'd also add that of course the cheat creators would downplay the security risks of Vanguard.

For one the way they behave and their aversion to "pasters" honestly says to me that the majority are in fact those pasters and lack true knowledge.

Then there's the fact that these people make money off of vanguard existing, they're able to charge a premium for their cheats while the silent majority of non cheaters get datamined

Vanguard or kernel anticheat is the reason why i quit playing League completly, havent played valorant, only in the beta and i wont come back, just because a kernel anticheat doesn't do shit against a kernel cheat software or even good normal cheat software. Just a security risk on your pc and performance dropping so low or just using your pc as the new heater for your home

99.999 percent of league players shouldnt suffer because of rare scripters in high elo. Absolute garbage and no justification for this on my pc.

While you made a lot of good points about Vanguard it still doesn't justify it being needed on league. It is still a very dangerous anti-cheat for the casual gamer and their hardware, and on a more broad scale national security world wide. while the code may be smart cool but I have yet too see anything good about Vanguard in the research I have done. It will always be impossible to stop all cheaters. Having something like vanguard is to much of a risk to have on my PC just to play a game.

My biggest issue with kernel level anti-cheats is not that the devs are possibly going to be malicious nor the big companies that back them. My biggest issue is that all it takes is 1 bad day with this possibility. Now that kernel-level anti-cheats are being widely used in multiple big platform games, the same issue that macs original faced will surface. Macs used to not be hacked, not because they were unhackable, but it wasn't big /wide enough to gain vs the cost. Will massive player bases like League's, someone will get some funny ideas at some point.

Imagine some raging psychopath decides to fry lots of players PC's because he decided he hates people who play Riot's games after losing one too many games.

also many router based cheats and efi cheats are still undected from vanguard. yes you heard it, by making custom router firmware and/or hardware yourself you can tell your custom router to run scripts mainly for esp by decoding packets sent from and to the pc to the router to the game server. by intercepting this you can infact read player data as its not stored on the pc or ram but rather through packets

Ive played league of legends for 11 years and can count on one hand the amount of scripters encountered.

Vanguard in league of legends is a solution in search of a problem. There's no reason to add this to LoL when the majority of cheaters globally play shooters.

As long as the header is not removed from the motherboard, hardware can lie at any time.

I have some old peripherals i use in my computer for some flight simulators, and the idk what happens to the official drivers but they are not signed, what happened then is that Vanguard uninstalled those drivers (and i dont know how) didnt allow me to install them again, even after uninstalling vanguard. Caused me to have to reformat my computer to allow me to use my HOTAS. just bullshit after bullshit on riots part

not only is it privacy breaching, Riot vanguard rapidly degrades the hardware in your computer. on 3 people i knows pc which includes myself vanguard took up more than 1Terabyte after following guides to "clear its cache" essentially destroying the pc. it also tries very hard to not be uninstalled. i remember tryna uninstall it and the control panel window would close then when i went back into it is was gone, no longer in the list of uninstallable things. the only way vanguard would let itself be removed is i had to reinstall windows onto a completely different SSD. Dodgey stuff indeed.

TPM bypass is a thing which hackers can do very easily from what I heard. Vanguard is just a ticking time boob. Look at LCK or the whole league korea. They can't play league cuz the Vanguard hack didn't get vanguard but got League korea's anti cheat along with the source code for league as well.
