I’m an American and I live in Louisiana and I remember hearing this song for the first time in a Taco Bell in downtown Lake Charles when I was only 7 years old. I also heard One Week by Barenaked Ladies.

I read on Wikipedia that both songs were only released 1 day apart in September 1998. That’s pretty interesting.

Heard it on the radio first time last weekend. Nice starting point for exploring a band I haven’t explored yet.

Track is about the difficulties in a relationship between two people and the struggles they encounter when trying to make it work. The narrator is trying to make the relationship work, believing that he can turn it around. However, he discovers that his efforts are in vain and that no matter what he does, the outcome is always the same. In the end, he realizes that he is “losing his favourite game” and that he’s “losing his baby”. The song is a reflection of the struggles in relationships, of speaking one’s truth, and accepting that things cannot stay the same forever.
